This document contains IMPORTANT INFORMATION you should know before using the program. --> When you have finished reading this document, <-- --> choose Exit from the File menu, then double- <-- --> click the Org Plus icon to start the program. <-- ===================================================== WORKING WITH EXISTING CHARTS *You may use charts created with a previous version of Org Plus simply by installing the new version of Org Plus and opening the older chart as usual. *Charts created or modified in Org Plus for Windows Version 3.0 can be opened in Versions 2.01 and 2.0, Org Plus Advanced 6.01, and Microsoft Organization Chart 1.0. These previous versions do not support all of the features of Org Plus for Windows 3.0, but they will convert the newer features to reasonable equivalents. *Org Plus for Windows 3.0 charts cannot be opened in Org Plus for Windows 1.0, Org Plus Advanced 6.0 or earlier, or Org Plus for Macintosh 1.0. *Org Plus for Windows 3.0 will read Org Plus Advanced 6.01 Amounts fields and translate them into Org Plus 3.0 Amounts fields. There are some restrictions; please refer to the Org Plus for Windows 3.0 manual for details. COLOR MONITORS Org Plus for Windows 3.0 gives you the option of selecting from over 70 colors. If you are using a 16- color display, some of those colors cannot be displayed on your monitor. Org Plus will simulate those colors with patterns of displayable colors when it draws the interiors of boxes or the chart background, and will pick the nearest displayable color for drawing lines and text. Displays which support 256 or more colors will always correctly show the selected color. Regardless of the capabilities of your display, the selected color will be displayed correctly if displayed on another system with 256 or more colors, and will be printed correctly if your printer is capable of printing that color. CHART COLORS IN OTHER APPLICATIONS Org Plus for Windows 3.0 chart colors may appear different when the chart is embedded or linked through OLE into a client application that only supports a 16- color palette. Most current presentation graphics programs can display the full set of Org Plus colors, but many word processors cannot. SHADOW OFFSETS Org Plus gives you the ability to set the amount of shadow offset you want to give your lines, text, or boxes. It is recommended that you set your offset to 4 points or less for the best chart appearance and program performance. PRINTING WITH HEWLETT PACKARD LASERJET 4 PRINTERS If you are printing your charts with an HP LaserJet 4 printer, we recommend that you use a PostScript printer driver. If you do need to use a non-PostScript HP LaserJet 4 printer driver, we recommend that you use the Raster Graphics Mode instead of HP-GL/2 Graphics Mode. You can change the printer driver mode without exiting Org Plus. From the File menu, select Print Setup; Org Plus displays the Print Setup dialog box. Click the Options button to bring up the Options dialog box and select Raster from the Graphics Mode pull-down menu. PRINTING WITH HEWLETT PACKARD LASERJET III PRINTERS Certain PCL drivers for the HP LaserJet III series have a problem printing white boxes. We recommend that you either use a PostScript driver or make your boxes transparent instead of white. You can set your boxes to transparent by selecting them and then choosing Color from the Boxes menu. The lower right cell on the color grid makes the selected boxes transparent. ORG PLUS AND MICROSOFT ORGANIZATION CHART Org Plus for Windows 3.0 installs itself as the OLE server for PowerPoint 4.0 organization charts. If you have PowerPoint 4.0 installed, you will find that the organization chart button on its toolbar and the org chart "new slide" template will now run Org Plus instead of Microsoft Organization Chart. Also, when you edit existing org charts in PowerPoint slides, you will be using Org Plus, not Microsoft Organization Chart. Org Plus 3.0 is completely compatible with Microsoft Organization Chart 1.0. NETWORK FILE SHARING Org Plus for Windows 3.0 will allow simultaneous access to a chart file. The first to open it has full write access; while it is open, others can open it read-only. In order for network sharing to work, SHARE must be installed on the systems involved. See your Windows documentation for details. INSTALLING WHEN WINDOWS IS RUN FROM A NETWORK If you are running Windows from a network and the Windows System directory is on the net and is write- protected, the Install will be unable to install the file CTRL3DV2.DLL there. Before you are able to run Org Plus, you will need to get your system administrator to manually install this file. ====================================================== End of Readme
